CABS (Child and Babysitting Course) Ages: 11+EnrichmentThe Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and HealthInstitute gives everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Drumming Club (Grades 4-6)EnrichmentCome join Ms Bellman in the PW Music room and enjoy drumming! Build on the skills you’ve learned already, sing and play new drumming songs and add more instruments to the mix. Prairie Woods students can report directly to the Prairie Woods Music Room after school. Middle School students should ride the shuttle bus to Prairie Woods and report to the music room. Elementary Choir Club (Grades 3-4)EnrichmentCome join the 3rd and 4th grade after-school chorus! Ms. Bellman, the elementary music teacher, and Mr. Parker, the middle and high school choir teacher, will lead the chorus in the Prairie Woods Music Room! Students report to the music room after school. One day a week, from 3pm-4pm. Parents pickup at the flagpole doors at 4pm. Commitment: Perform at the Veteran's Day program on November 11th at 1:15pm. This fun and engaging program offers students the chance to explore their love for singing, build teamwork, and develop their musical skills. This experience will culminate with a feature performance at the Veteran's Day Program on November 11th. All are welcome—no prior experience needed!Fall 2025

Firearm Safety Classes (Must be 11 years old by test date)EnrichmentIf you are planning on hunting then this course is a must. Trained members from Izaak Walton League and the Community will spend 6 evenings with you and show you the correct and safe way to handle your hunting firearms. Pre-registration is required and attendance at all sessions. Plan ahead for your fall hunting!! This class is only offered in the winter/spring!! Participants must be 11 years old by time class finishes! You must pre-register. NLS students will receive the State/Parent permission form prior to classes starting and must fill out and return to the Community Ed Office before the 1st night of class. Non-NLS students will need to have a parent/guardian with the first night to fill out the permission form. No permission form returned/no classroom training! An additional fee will be due when you register online to receive your certificate. ALL classes must be attended. Range Testing: Saturday Location place and times TBD. More info will be sent home with the students prior to testing day. Parents must provide transportation to and from range. NO refunds once registered.Fall 2025

Home Alone! Safety (Ages 8+)EnrichmentIs your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to be “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls, door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.Fall 2025

Jack-O'-Lantern Jubilee Cookie Decorating (K-4th Grade)EnrichmentCome and have some fun with your friends and enjoy some spooky, Jack-o-lantern themed cookie decorating!! At the end of this class you will bring home some very “spookily” decorated Pumpkin cookies for your family!! Yum!! A fun class activity is also planned while the cookies are drying. WaitlistSTEM Cotton Candy Carnival (Grades K-4)EnrichmentCome and learn how Cotton Candy is made WITH and WITHOUT a machine. In this STEM class we will be learning some Chemistry and how Cotton Candy is made by heating and spinning flavored sugar and Jolly Ranchers. We will also be playing games for fun prizes like a CARNIVAL and EVERY child will go home with Cotton Candy and Lots of Prizes. Come and have some fun with your friends and enjoy the CARNIVAL. We will be making 2 edible crafts: Edible DNA as well as Wintery Popcorn. Let's have some fun while we cook, eat and learn about DNA, Genetics and Popcorn Chemistry.
