Open Gym fall basketball will be supervised by parent (Jamie Thompson, Steve Vick or Tom Spears) at the High School Gym on Tuesday y mornings and Sunday evenings for open gym/shooting. Join us 6:15-7:30am on Tuesdays mornings and Sunday evenings from 8-9:30pm.

Join us at Alley on Ash each month for some fun on the lanes. We will have a chance to bowl 2 games each time and have fun with our friends. Fee includes 2 games, shoe rental, a chaperone on site, a slice of pizza and juice. Parents pick up at 5pm at the bowling alley. Students should have a note to ride the shuttle bus #37 to the Alley on Ash. (First bus in line at Prairie Woods by the flag pole) Students will meet in the Prairie Woods Gym and then go to the bus.

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and HealthInstitute gives everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.

2nd, 3rd & 4th graders join us at Cats Arts & Crafts Club to try out your artistic abilities and have lots of fun! There will be a different hands on project each time. Students can go directly to the Prairie Woods Art Room. Parents pick up at the flag pole doors at 4pm.

Come join Ms Bellman in the PW Music room and enjoy drumming! Build on the skills you’ve learned already, sing and play new drumming songs and add more instruments to the mix. Prairie Woods students can report directly to the Prairie Woods Music Room after school. Middle School students should ride the shuttle bus to Prairie Woods and report to the music room. Parents pick up at the flagpole doors at 4:30pm

If you are planning on hunting then this course is a must. Trained members from Izaak Walton League and the Community will spend 6 evenings with you and show you the correct and safe way to handle your hunting firearms. Pre-registration is required and attendance at all sessions. Plan ahead for your fall hunting!! This class is only offered in the winter/spring!! Participants must be 11 years old by time class finishes! You must pre-register. NLS students will receive the State/Parent permission form prior to classes starting and must fill out and return to the Community Ed Office before the 1st night of class. Non-NLS students will need to have a parent/guardian with the first night to fill out the permission form. No permission form returned/no classroom training! An additional fee will be due when you register online to receive your certificate. ALL classes must be attended. Range Testing: Saturday Location place and times TBD. More info will be sent home with the students prior to testing day. Parents must provide transportation to and from range. NO refunds once registered.

The best Halloween Party of the Year! Talk with the creatures of the enchanted trail, playgames, decorate a cookie. Climb the indoor wall with your costume on! Children must beaccompanied by an adult.

Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to be “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls, door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.

Curious about wrestling? This two-day introductory camp is perfect for students in grades K–6 who are interested in learning more about the sport—no prior experience needed! Campers will be introduced to the basics of wrestling through fun games, drills, and a sample practice led by Coach Shawn Hatlestad and current NLS High School wrestlers. Whether your child is brand new or simply wants to try wrestling before the season begins, this is a great opportunity to explore the sport in a supportive and engaging environment.

At the end of this class you will bring home some very “spookily” decorated Pumpkin cookies for your family!! Yum!! A fun class activity is also planned while the cookies are drying. Fee includes supplies and ingredients. Students should have a note to ride the shuttle bus to the high school. Instructor Ms. B will meet the students at the bus and bring them to the High School FACS Room. Parents pick up at 4:30pm at the "Middle School" door on the front side of the High School (closest to the Performing Arts Center main entrance).

Join our MS Art Teacher and get creative. Think outside the box in the world of art. You will have different projects to work on each class. Art Club members have created displays and bulletin boards in the school and expanded their knowledge on how to use several different medias. Students can report directly to the MS Art Room.
