Behind the WheelBehind the Wheel Instruction for obtaining your Driver’s LicenseIf you took the driver's ed classroom thru New London-Spicer you are automatically registered for behind the wheel instruction.If you did not take the classroom portion through NL-S you must register to be on the call list. Contact the Community Ed Office at 320-354-1406 to find out what is needed to register. Once you register we will call close to your 16th birthday to complete this portion of training before your driving test. Students who take the Classroom at NLS (automatically registered) **Prior to October 1, 2025 Registration Fee: $20 (included in classroom fee) with balance of $260 prior to instruction starting. **After October 1, 2025 Registration Fee: $100 (included in classroom fee) with balance of $180 prior to instruction starting. CABS (Child and Babysitting Course) Ages: 11+EnrichmentThe Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and HealthInstitute gives everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Cub Kids PreschoolCub Kids serves children ages 3–5 and offers a high-quality, inclusion-based preschool program designed to intentionally prepare every child for Kindergarten success. Cub Kids is a fee-based preschool program held from 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days and follows the New London-Spicer School District calendar*. Tuition is billed monthly on the 15th, with the option for families to pre-pay if they prefer not to commit to a single larger monthly payment. To support families’ schedules, before- and after-school care is available through our Lil’ PALS program: Before School Care: 7:30–8:15 a.m. | $5/day After School Care: 3:00–5:30 p.m. | $8/day Our Mission The mission of the Cub Kids program is to invest early and intentionally in every child through exceptional teaching, inclusive practices, and a deep commitment to safety and care. Our program is led by MN licensed teachers who are READ Act certified, and supported by highly qualified paraprofessionals who meet the guidelines outlined by the MN Department of Education. All staff are trained in First Aid, AED, and CPR, ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment for every child. Through developmentally appropriate instruction, intentional daily practice, and individualized support, Cub Kids focuses on nurturing the whole child—socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Driver's Education ClassroomClassroomThis class will be done in person. Attendance on ALL days for the entire time is mandatory to receive your blue cards.Registration will be open to those who are 14 1/2 years old by end of class date If you are soon to be 15 years of age or older and needing to meet the requirements from the State of Minnesota for classroom instruction before taking your permit test, this class is for you. The State of Minnesota requires that you successfully complete this mandatory class and be registered for a Behind the Wheel Training Instruction in order to obtain your blue card making you eligible to take your permit test online or at your local DMV office when you reach the minimum age of 15.Attendance on ALL days for the entire time is mandatory to receive your blue card. Students cannot be late to class. Before signing up for a session make sure your calendar is clear to attend all sessions for their entire length. We encourage students to take the class within six months or less of their 15th birthday. Priority will be given to those students who are within 6 months of their birthday. (Any changes to attending a session once registered will be charged $20 and any cancellations once registered will be charged a $40 cancellation fee – so please plan ahead.) If your child misses any time during the session they are registered for, you may be subject to a rescheduling fee up to $50. Once you have completed the course, reached a minimum of age 15 and passed your permit test you have to drive with a parent or guardian for a minimum of 50 hours over a period of no less than 6 months and keep a driving log (15 hours of night driving), complete a six hour Behind the Wheel course and reach age 16 before taking your driver’s test for licensure. Classroom fee includes a $100 non-refundable registration fee towards your Behind the Wheel Training and your Behind the Wheel Training balance will be $180.00 due prior to training starting. (Closer to your 16th birthday) ***Parent Classroom Portion: Parents attend a 1 & 1/2 hour classroom session to learn more about the parents role in teen driving, tips on teaching your teen to be a better driver, new Minnesota laws and safety information. Parents attendance at class will reduce the minimum number of mandatory logged driving hours to 40 hours over a period of not less than 6 months. Parent will receive a certificate for completing the class when your child receives their white card. Parent Classroom Portion: Parents attend a 1 1/2 hour classroom to learn more about the parents role in teen driving, tips on teaching your teen to be a better driver, new Minnesota laws and safety information. Parents attendance at class will reduce the minimum number of mandatory logged driving hours to 40 hours over a period of not less than 6 months. Parent will receive a certificate for completing the class. Typically the parent class is offered in November of each year. Students do NOT attend. If your child misses any time during the session they are registered for you may be subject to a rescheduling fee up to $50If your child misses any time during the session they are registered for you may be subject to a losing your entire class fee. Cancellations less than 7 days in advance may result in the total fee being forfeited. Family Campfire at PWELCPrairie Woods Environmental Learning Center (PWELC)Enjoy a classic family evening outdoors with s'mores, campfire games, songs, and stories at PWELC. Gather round the fire, have fun together, and soak up the sights and sounds of the great outdoors during this relaxed 2 hour family adventure. Flag Football - Adults (5 on 5)Recreation & LeaguesOpen to 8 Teams! Wednesday Nights: 7:30pm and 8:15pm Start times. Games are 45 minutes. Teams will play two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute break between. Bonus Week: Oct 21st for top four teams. Games Played on NLS Turf under the lights. Players will play ½ field games. Teams can be any combination of men, women or co-ed. 5 on 5 league. 5 Weeks of regular season, 1 week of Playoffs for all teams. Fees for this class are paid to refs, purchasing equipment and using the turf.Spring/Summer 2026
